Let's Start Talking

Let's Start Talking

In today’s fast-moving world, tensions are running high. Whether it’s in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, or personal relationships, we are finding conflict is a part of our everyday lives.

At The Resolution Center, we empower individuals to resolve their conflicts using the most powerful human skill: effective communication. This transcends culture, gender, race and age by allowing each one of us to tell our side of the story, to be heard and to reach lasting agreement.

Finding common ground through mediation.

The Resolution Center, formerly the North Shore Community Mediation Center,
is an independent non-profit, incorporated in 1994.

We provide conflict resolution and training services to the communities of Essex County including Amesbury, Andover, Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Essex, Georgetown, Gloucester, Groveland, Hamilton, Haverhill, Ipswich, Lawrence, Lynn, Lynnfield, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Merrimac, Methuen, Middleton, Nahant, Newbury, Newburyport, North Andover, Peabody, Rockport, Rowley, Salem, Salisbury, Saugus, Swampscott, Topsfield, Wenham and West Newbury.

We care about people and we care about their conversations. As mediators we are impartial and never take a side but rather use questions to reframe the conversation and de-escalate the conflict.
We’re your community resource.

Affordable:

Our sliding scale makes mediation services a more affordable alternative or complement to the legal process and may help you avoid going to court.

Inclusive:

Mediation hears from both sides and reflects these views in the resolution. Our skilled mediators are impartial and work to move people forward with lasting solutions. We offer a non-judgmental, empowering space for conversation.

Confidential:

Mediation allows both sides to tell their complete story in a private setting. Our mediators and staff keep all information—from your first inquiry to any resolution you may reach—confidential. Our model gets at the root cause of the conflict, establishes trust with both parties and transforms conflict through collaboration.

Voluntary:

No one is forced to participate, and no one has to do anything they don’t want to do. If participants aren’t able to reach a resolution, they still come away with a deeper understanding of their own and the other party's perspectives. Our trained mediators work to promote better understanding and communication by offering the highest quality mediation services to those in conflict by helping people to be better listeners, understand and talk to each other. Our volunteers guide parties toward recognizing areas of agreement and highlighting realistic ways to move forward.
