Beverly, MA, June 7, 2021: The Board of Directors of the North Shore Community Mediation Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Hannah Bowen as our new Executive Director.  She succeeds Cynthia McClorey who is retiring after having provided distinguished service and leadership to the organization for the past 22 years.

Ms. Bowen is a North Shore native having grown up in Swampscott.  She holds a Masters in Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale in Political Science and Near Eastern Studies.  In addition to having served in the Peace Corps in Ghana, Hannah has held leadership positions in program development and administration with a number of international and local non-profit organizations in both Washington, D.C. and Boston.  She will draw on her past experience in non-profit management to lead the Center forward in our mission of empowering people to transform conflicts into opportunities for mutual understanding, social change, communication, and personal growth.

The North Shore Community Mediation Center is part of a network of 12 community mediation centers in MA. Under Ms. McClorey’s leadership, the Center has become a trusted center for community-led dispute resolution and mediation training. Our professional staff and panel of 43 trained volunteer mediators provide a range of services that are available to all residents of the North Shore at low or no cost, including family mediation, court referred small claims, workplace conflicts, landlord/tenant and neighborhood disputes.  We also work in local schools delivering conflict resolution training and peer mediation programs for young people.

We invite community members who are looking to prevent and resolve conflicts in your own daily lives, learn more about the Center, or become trained mediators to visit our website (www.nsmediation.org).
